Hotel California Live Electric - The Eagles

So I looked everywhere for the electric version of

this live. I couldn't find it anywhere so I decided

I'd try and figure it out on my own. Walsh's part

might not be perfect but it's close. I usually

just play Felder's part anyway. Keep in mind this is NOT the

acoustic version from Hell Freezes Over which has many tabs

of it both on UG and other sites. This was tabbed from the

version on Eagles Live (1980) and from video of their 1977

Houston concert.

There are 3 guitars, they are as follows:

12-string acoustic w/ capo on 2nd fret: Glenn Frey

6 string electric (Fender Telecaster if you care): Joe Walsh

Gibson double-neck w/ capo on 7th fret of 12-string neck: Don Felder

This part might be wrong but it works. It's heavily palm muted and

I assume played by Walsh. Play it several times at the beginning

before the main intro starts. But if you are a band learning to

play it for yourselves, I recommend disgarding this as starting

with the main intro gives a greater wow factor.

Now Felder repeats that and Walsh comes in

Now we start the verse. Glenn just strums the chords I think, Felder plays

the intro once more and Walsh plays a palm muted thing as follows

Then Felder and Walsh split. Felder on the high note, Walsh on the low.

Felder only plays this part:

Chorus:

Glenn again just strums the chords. Felder does the same but on

the 6 string. Walsh plays nothing until this which he plays between "Welcome to

the Hotel California" and

"such a lovely place"

then both Walsh and Felder play the lead in to the second part of the chorus

then Walsh plays this between "Plenty of room at the Hotel California" and

"Any time of year"

Felder plays this on the 6 string before going back to the intro

then the first half of the second verse is the same as the first part of the

first verse then Walsh and Felder split again. Felder on the high note,

Walsh on the low.

Second chorus:

Again Glenn strums the chords. Walsh plays the chords while Felder

doesn't play until this between "Welcome to the Hotel California" and

"such a lovely place"

Felder plays this between "They're livin' it up at the Hotel California" and

"What a nice surprise"

Now comes the breakdown. It's the same as the first part of the

intro. Then when it's done this starts. Like the electric part of the verses

Walsh is the lower note, Felder is the higher. It is basically the second

part of the first verse combined with the second part of the second verse.

Now the solo; as I've said, Walsh's solo isn't perfect but it's

as close as I can get. Felder plays first, then Walsh.

the 6-string during it.
