RUN, COME, SEE JERUSALEM
Well it was nine-teen hundred and twenty-nine (run, come, see)
I remember that day pretty well
Nine-teen hun-dred and twen-tynine
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
They were talk-ing 'bout a storm on the island (run, come, see)
My god, what a beau-tiful morning
Talk-ing 'bout a storm on the is-land
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
There were three sail leaving at the harbor (run, come, see)
They were the Eth-el and the Myrtle and Pretoria
Three sail leav-ing at the har-bor
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
Now the Eth-el was bound for Fresh Creek (run, come, see)
With the ma-mas and the children on board
The Eth-el was bound for Fresh creek
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
And the Myr-tle was bound for Staniel Quay (run, come, see)
My god, what a beau-tiful morning
The Myr-tle was bound for Staniel Quay
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
And Pre-tor-ia was out on the ocean (run, come, see)
Rocking down on her beam in the swell
Pre-tor-ia was out on the oc-ean
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
My god, then a big sea built up in the northwest (run, come, see)
And the captain come a run-ning for the tiller and a
big sea built up in the north-west
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
Then the first sea hit the Pretoria (run, come, see)
And the mamas come a run-ning for their children and the
first sea hit the Pre-tor-ia
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
And the sailor go down-ward for the bottom (run, come, see)
My god, what a beau-tiful morning
sail-or go down-ward for the bot-tom
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
Now George Brown, he was the captain (run, come, see)
He shouts "Now chil-dren come pray"
George Brown, he was the cap-tain
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
He says come now and witness your judgement (run, come, see)
And the women all a cry-ing for the Daniel-god
Come now and wit-ness your judg-ment
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
There were thir-ty-three soul on the water (run, come, see)
My god, what a beau-tiful morning (slower here, to end)
Thir-ty-three soul on the wat-ter
Run, come, see Je-ru-sa-lem
This is the Clam Chowder version, as best I can remember, with much improved
lyrics. It helps to have someone sing the counterpoint (run, come, see), and
provide a beat.
